XML & Web Services Integration Framework (XWIF)

XWIF is an integration methodology developed by SOA Systems Inc. (formerly XMLTC Consulting Inc.), a solutions and training provider specializing in SOA. The goal of XWIF is to establish a set of best practices, standards and guidelines for the successful integration of XML and service oriented architectures into existing legacy environments. To accomplish this, XWIF proposes standardized transition architectures, accompanied by adaptive migration strategies. XWIF complements the mainstream SOA analysis and design methodology also developed by SOA Systems.

A number of XWIF integration strategies, best practices, and processes were documented in a best-selling book published through Prentice Hall/PearsonPTR entitled "Service-Oriented Architecture: A Field Guide to Integrating XML and Web Services". A subsequent release, "Service-Oriented Architecture: Concepts, Technology, and Design", provides a complementary mainstream methodology for SOA comprised of further strategies, best practices, and extensive step-by-step processes for modeling and designing service-oriented solutions.
